Chat: threads, “Later” and presence status

Chat lives inside the tracker: channels, groups and direct messages, reply threads, mentions, files and task cards. Now with a threads tab, saved messages and a “Do not disturb” mode.

Why

Discussion of a task should not get lost in a third-party messenger. But a chat where everything is noisy does not help either, so this release is about attention: what to read now and what later.

How it works

  1. Three kinds of conversation

    Channel, group and direct message.

  2. A task becomes a card

A link to a task in chat turns into a card, and the task itself shows which chats it is discussed in.

  3. The “Threads” tab

Threads you started, replied in, were mentioned in or follow. You can follow a thread and unfollow it.

  4. “Later”

Save a message with a reminder and it arrives in the bell. “Mark as unread” is visible only to you.

  5. @everyone

A mass mention (and “@all”) reaches only members who have joined the channel or group; a muted channel does not show it.

  6. Presence status

Online; “Do not disturb” from 30 minutes to tomorrow or on a work schedule; “Away” manually or after 10 minutes of inactivity. A pause silences banners and sound but not counters, and messages from people on your VIP list always get through.

  7. Deleted means destroyed

Search covers the entire history, and a deleted message is erased, not hidden.

Good to know

  • There are no “read” receipts in chat, on purpose. Unread counters and the email digest work.
